Adams County Commissioners see Ranum Innovation Campus up close

Just before spring break, Adams County Commissioners Lynn Baca and Kathy Henson toured the Ranum Innovation Campus and now know firsthand what the “buzz” is about.

Superintendent Jeni Gotto and Ryan McCoy, Chief of Advancement and Strategic Partnerships, provided an overview of all the campus has to offer before giving the commissioners a walking tour of the building. During their visit they saw students at work and talked with faculty members who are introducing students to 21st century skills and preparing them for life after graduation.

Phase one of the campus opened in August with pathways in Aviation Engineering, Biotechnology, and Cyber Technology. Every pathway at the Ranum Innovation Campus offers stackable industry credentials and college credits. Students from both Westminster High School and Hidden Lake Secondary School are enrolled in classes on campus while taking their other core and elective classes at their home schools.

Baca and Henson both expressed interest in helping Westminster Public Schools expand its partnerships with local governments and businesses and helping to find new connections to serve both the students and the residents of Adams County.

The two were thrilled to learn that long term plans call for expanded learning opportunities to adults in the community as well.
